#BookReview: Destiny Mine (Destiny Series #2) by Nana Prah

The Blurb
Extraordinary midwife, Esi Darfour, is looking to get married. She’s a master matchmaker but has no

luck when it comes to her love life and has yet to find a man worthy of her. Until she has to deal with gorgeous Dr. Adam Quarshie outside of work.

Adam is a player who refuses to get married—ever. His interest lies more in getting her into bed than in having any kind of committed relationship. Esi’s matchmaker instincts warn her to run in the other direction as quickly as possible, but her heart insists she stay…get closer…and see if what they feel for each other can change his mind.

My Review
After reading and enjoying the first book in the series, I knew I had to check out book 2 especially since I liked the hero and heroine (who were secondary characters in book 1).

Anyway, so Esi Darfour is a midwife who is look for Mr Right to settle down with, which means she can't let herself be taken with Adam Quarshie who is unapologetically single and playing the playing the field. She masks her attraction by being mean and unfriendly to him. However given that they work in the same hospital, they cannot avoid each other or the sparks that fly when they are in the same room.

Esi and Adam are very likeable characters that a reader can easily care for. The heroine is spunky and doesn't hide what she wants, which is a refreshing change from the she's-sworn-off-men plotline that I've encountered a lot in recent books I've read.

Adam is likeable despite his womanising ways and as the story progresses, the author reveals a depth to him that makes the reader want to see him have a happy ending.

The story takes place in my country, Ghana, which is a bonus, and the author does a good job of showcasing the culture and the setting in a believable way.

I would recommend it to readers who want a cultural adventure to go with their sweet medical romance.
